Order of worship

When the Morning Comes

Arr. By B. B. McKinney

Humbly before God, we pray: God, You know us better than we know ourselves. So we confess we yearn for Your presence, but then we run away from Your love in fear that we may see sin fully or that You may call us to service.

Forgive us, Lord.

We confess we prefer the safe, familiar and the certain over the risky, unknown and mysterious places that Your Spirit can lead us.

Forgive us, Lord.

We confess we often fail to understand the vulnerability of power and lack of belief in the power of vulnerability.

Forgive us, Lord.

We confess we take no delight in sameness while often insisting conformity and resisting diversity.

Forgive us, Lord.

We fear those different from ourselves and project onto them the very evil we do not see within our own actions.

Forgive us, Lord.

We fail to notice Your presence in faces as well as Spirit; in feeling as well as intellect; in pain as in healing; in the cross as in the empty tomb.

Forgive us, Lord and set us free. Come as the liberating Christ so we may live graciously and without fear. Amen.
